Welcome!
I am currently working on personal projects and advising a start-up. I have obtained a PhD at the Department of Computer Science at KU Leuven in November 2021.
My PhD research advanced the state of the art in robust optimization of partial differential equations with uncertain coefficients. In particular, I developed multilevel Monte Carlo and multilevel quasi-Monte Carlo techniques to evaluate gradients and Hessians arising in the problem and integrated those in a novel way in a multigrid optimization procedure. The research is situated at the intersection of partial differential equations, optimization, and probability theory.
My areas of interest include machine learning, artificial intelligence, scientific computing, optimization,
statistics and probability theory, numerical mathematics, and other related topics. I also very much enjoy giving talks, teaching and mentoring students.
I am also known for having won the mathematics olympiad of Flanders twice.
I was born in Belgium in 1993, but have Italian roots. The beautiful Mediterranean
island of Sardinia is my second home. I like traveling, reading, and having a good time with my friends.
